Senior Medical Writer – UK

Business is flourishing, so they are looking to add a Senior Medical Writer to their growing team. As a Senior Medical Writer, you will be responsible for undertaking the writing/editorial development of a broad range of projects, facilitating the completion of these projects from first draft through to final deliverable, and liaising with other teams both internally and externally as required.
Key Responsibilities
Writing and editing
- Maintain a high quality of medical writing
- Good briefing and reviewing skills
- Continually feedback to all members of the writing team effectively, ensuring learnings are taken forward onto future projects
- Assist with the promotion of quality control processes and procedures
- Address internal and external comments on your work intelligently and question any that are inappropriate, inaccurate or unclear
Scientific content and expertise
- Develop understanding of new therapeutic areas quickly and comprehensively
- Build understanding of client and competitor products, therapy areas, portfolio, and clinical and commercial strategy in the context of the current market
- Keep up-to-date with industry codes of practice/legislation
Internal relationships and leadership
- Begin to act as the Technical Lead on designated client projects
- Work with other members of the writing team to ensure that departmental objectives are met
- Plan your workload and contribute to resourcing for your team
Client service and external relationships
- Work collaboratively with account team members to ensure that all account objectives are met
- Build relationships with clients and/or external experts
- Attend meetings in the UK or elsewhere, providing on-site support as required
Business development
- Identify opportunities to maximise existing client accounts
- Assist with the development of proposals and present at pitches when appropriate
Financial
- When appropriate, contribute to development of project specifications, cost estimates and reconciliations
- Monitor project costs against agreed budgets and notify the Client Services team of any changes to the specification at the earliest opportunity
- Communicate clearly to team members at all times, schedule and budget guidelines, and adhere to those given by a project’s Technical Lead
