Senior Global Medical Director – External Innovation & New Products Strategy
Sat within the Global Medical Affairs organisation and Rare Diseases business unit of our client, unlike your typical Medical Affairs leadership position this Senior Medical Director role will focus on providing a clear medical analysis of external innovation and business development opportunities.
You’ll focus on complimentary assets and opportunities to the Rare Diseases portfolio, which in recent years has included several successful acquisitions in the Rare Liver Disease/Hepatology space. The Senior Medical Director will design the strategy for and actively drive the medical evaluation of business development opportunities and contribute to the design of the External Innovation strategy.
For this role our client is seeking experienced Global Medical Affairs professionals with prior experience of providing medical input into due diligence and business development activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement the medical affairs led External Innovation strategy for Rare Diseases
- Drive the medical evaluation of external innovation opportunities
- Work closely with cross functional teams to evaluate unmet need and value proposition for new assets
- Design and maintain operating model and deliverables for medical evaluation of opportunities
- Provide comprehensive insight into the assessment of new assets
- Provide Medical Affairs leadership to Rare Disease teams for global launch strategy
- Develop and maintain relationships with relevant KOLs, scientific societies, collaborative groups and external stakeholders
Candidate Requirements:
- MD or PhD qualification
- Therapy area experience in Rare Disease, Hepatology or Specialist Medicine
- Experience in similar level Global Medical Affairs roles
- Experience in the medical assessment of external innovation opportunities and novel assets
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Excellent analytical and communication skills
