UK Medical Director - Oncology

Pharma-Partners is working with a large pharmaceutical company to hire a UK Medical Director in Oncology.

This UK Medical Director role is responsible for the overall strategic direction of the Women's Oncology portfolio and pipeline and will work closely with other "Heads of" within the Medical Affairs group. As the Medical Director it will be critical to provide medical input and leadership to other business functions for a range of cross functional projects, especially during the drug approval process given the strength and depth of the pipeline.The Medical Director will line manage a team of reports with mixed levels of experience and be required to support their continued professional development.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute medical strategy for the Women's Oncology portfolio and pipeline
  • Line manage, coach and develop a growing Medical Affairs team
  • Maintain effective relationships with R&D stakeholders and ensure timely support to deliver clinical operations objectives
  • Partner with Commercial & Marketing teams on overall brand direction, strategy and planning
  • Work with HEOR and Market Access colleagues through the drug approval process
  • Responsible for departmental budgets
  • Develop data generation and real-world evidence plans
  • Oversee ongoing and proposed IITs
  • Devise external engagement strategy and maintain relationships with top tier KOLs
  • Provide medical review and sign-off to materials as required

Candidate Requirements:

  • Medical Doctor or Pharmacist with ABPI Final Signatory status
  • Oncology experience in pharma and/or clinical practice
  • Demonstrable experience in Medical Affairs strategy and planning
  • Line management experience preferred but not essential
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to effectively manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Effective communicator
