Senior Medical Science Liaison - Scotland & Northern Ireland

We're supporting an established pharmaceutical business to help continue to grow a recently built field-based medical affairs team. This company has products across multiple therapy areas and has built a solid reputation in the industry as an excellent employer - somewhere that really takes care of its staff and ensures an inspiring team-based environment in which to work.

This Senior MSL role will predominantly cover Scotland with occasional visits to Northern Ireland. Key clinical centres aligned to the product(s) you'll cover include Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast. You will be joining an experienced MSL team covering the UK, with a large amount of industry experience and a high level of scientific expertise already present in each of your colleagues' profiles. This team engages with KOLs and HCPs using a truly "exchange" driven approach - looking to understand what an expert is wishing to learn about a product or topic before then delivering a tailored non-promotional scientific response. Simply executing pre-ordained medical/scientific materials provided by head office medical is not the approach here, as you're encouraged to communicate proactively with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing non-promotional scientific and educational support for your geographical region in a field-based capacity
  • Ensuring all activities are conducted with adherence to the company's local and global ethical guidelines and also external regulatory bodies' codes of practice (e.g. ABPI)
  • Developing scientifically beneficial relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs) and clinical investigators
  • Delivering ethical and accurate scientific/educational presentations at KOL/HCP meetings and/or clinical sessions
  • Attendance at relevant national and sometimes international conferences, ensuring up-to-date and credible knowledge of advancements in the therapy are maintained
  • Working closely with head office medical and scientific affairs colleagues to organise and present credible data packages at advisory boards where appropriate
  • Providing on-going support to marketing colleagues in delivering their respective programmes
  • Support the creation and development of publications

Requirements:

  • A scientific qualification (i.e. BSc, MSc or PhD)
  • Prior experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Solid understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice
  • A confident and forthright person who understands the need to engage with KOLs/HCPs/Investigators in a communicative and proactive fashion, as opposed to purely reactive
  • First-rate presentation and communication skills
  • Track record of successfully delivering projects
  • A full UK driver's license is required to perform this field-based role
