Senior Medical Manager - Gene Therapy

Pharma-Partners is working with a growing global biopharmaceutical business to recruit a fast-paced and highly visible Senior Medical Manager role. This position exists to help the UK business launch a gene therapy drug, bringing a ground-breaking treatment to patients suffering from a particular rare disease. The UK has been chosen as a leading market at the forefront of this company's global launch plan, and this drug successful launch will pave the way for additional new rare disease products to be brought to patients in the mid-long term.

You will work alongside the UK Medical Director to implement pre-launch medical affairs strategy, and engage with the external groups such as KOLs, HCPs, Patient organisations, and Regulatory bodies. Working closely with colleagues across Commercial, Regulatory, Safety, and Market Access in this small and close-knit UK affiliate is an integral part of the role. Core duties include:

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain relationships with external stakeholders (e.g. KOLs, HCPs) through medical education for the disease area, delivering insights and information from clinical development programmes and real-world evidence generation programmes
  • Act as a medical leader for medico-marketing planning and strategic decision-making, working collaboratively with the commercial leadership team
  • Management of compliance for promotional materials in line with regulations such as the ABPI Code of Practice, including supporting other departments with compliance adherence
  • Attend therapeutically aligned scientific congresses and meetings to ensure engagement with relevant stakeholders
  • Work closely with Market Access colleagues to support evidence generation activities and preparation of health technology submissions
  • Respond to escalated medical information enquiries when required

Requirements:

  • Qualified physician (GMC registered) or pharmacist (GPhC registered)
  • Experience in medical affairs in pharmaceutical medicine
  • Strategic experience delivering medical plans
  • Direct experience engaging with KOLs/HCPs for a product or therapy area
  • ABPI Final Signatory status
  • Direct experience working on Health Technology Appraisals, contributing to the writing of these documents as opposed to just review work
  • An individual who's happy working without a set framework on every task, and who is adaptable given the speedy nature of working in a "true biotech" environment
  • A flexible person who's comfortable driving face-to-face interaction with external stakeholders and bodies, and keen to not just be office-based but living and breathing external engagement
