Medical Director - Northern Europe
Pharma-Partners is working closely with an established small-to-mid sized global pharmaceutical business as it looks to hire a senior medical affairs physician as an important member of it's Northern European 'Senior Leadership Team'. This business already has well established business units with multiple products on the market, though exciting times are ahead with a new group of drugs targeted to launch from 2020 onwards over the next 3-5 years.
As well as operating as a decisive part of the leadership team, you will manage a multi-layered medical team that includes medical affairs, compliance, medical information, quality and drug safety. You would also have dotted line oversight of a local regulatory team that reports directly into global. Empowering your staff and ensuring everyone's efforts are truly aligned are important objectives for this Medical Director, given the expected multiple launches in the immediate future.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, direct, and develop a medical team across multiple functions
- Act as the local medical figurehead in providing marketing with efficient and quality PMCPA/IPHA compliant approval services
- Direct and lead interactions with senior external stakeholders across the therapy area, including KOL networking and maintenance of HCP relationships
- Influence corporate approval for local Phase IV and Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS) that are in line with local strategic objectives
- Maintain an up-to-date risk profile for all company products as the senior physician from a local drug safety perspective
- Ensure your team delivers an effective Quality Management Service (QMS) in line with SOPs and the company's compliance infrastructure
- Work as a member of internal therapy leadership committees at a European/Regional level
Requirements:
- Qualified physician (full GMC registration or equivalent)
- Significant post-qualification experience in clinical medicine in the NHS or equivalent
- An experienced medical affairs leader who has line managed both office and field-based teams, ideally with multiple layers
- Experienced ABPI Final Medical Signatory
- Experience of product launch is essential
- Some experience of managing safety, compliance, med info or quality teams is an advantage
- Someone driven by a collaborative approach to their work and decision-making
- An individual who can lead by delegating accountability to their team, and empowering others to succeed
