Global Medical Affairs Manager

Pharma-Partners is working with an established medium-sized global pharmaceutical company to recruit an important leadership role based from the UK. The organisation has an established product portfolio across two key areas, with an interesting pipeline in both including launches expected in the next 2-3 years and also various investigational compounds in early phase development.

Reporting to an experienced Medical Director, you will act as the medical lead for your assigned products (both marketed and pre-launch) as well as the line manager of a small medical affairs team. Leading, developing and mentoring your team is a key aspect of the role as this company operates a fairly lean medical structure where everyone is highly visible with strategic not just operational levels of responsibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, motivate and directly manage a field-based team of Medical Science Liaison staff
  • Be the medical driver for medico-marketing planning and strategic decision-making, working collaboratively with Brand Managers and the commercial leadership team
  • Lead on the on-going development and maintenance of KOL and HCP networks in relation to your assigned products, including pre-launch mapping and market interaction
  • Management of compliance for promotional materials in line with regulations such as the ABPI Code of Practice, including supporting other departments with compliance adherence
  • Ensure team budget compliance, with the support of the Medical Director
  • Attend therapeutically aligned conferences and scientific meetings to ensure engagement with senior external stakeholders
  • Lead the reaction to escalated medical information enquiries where required
  • Work with global colleagues to gain approval for Phase IV and Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS's) to fit in line with country-specific marketing needs

Requirements:

  • Qualified physician (GMC registered) or pharmacist (GPhC registered)
  • Experience in medical affairs in pharmaceutical medicine
  • Strategic experience delivering medical plans
  • Direct experience engaging with KOLs/HCPs for a product or therapy area, as well as supporting field-based colleagues and scientific affairs colleagues in a matrix structure
  • An ABPI Final Signatory is highly preferred
  • Line management experience is desirable though not essential
  • Experience working collaboratively with global counterparts is preferred, though this could be your first 'above country' role if you've worked in a UK/Ire affiliate so far
  • A proactive communicator who is comfortable managing high profile internal relationships with commercial colleagues, and other departmental leaders
