Country Medical Lead - Rare Disease

Our client, an established pharmaceutical business known for their work in a range of therapy areas, is seeking an experienced Medical Affairs professional to join and lead their Rare Disease medical team.

Reporting into the Country Medical Director the Country Medical Lead will be responsible UK Medical Affairs strategy for the Rare Disease therapeutic division, line management of local Medical Advisors and MSLs, liaising with global colleagues, and working closely and effectively with Commercial colleagues.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead UK Medical Affairs activities and develop and implement Rare Disease medical plans
  • Line manage Medical Advisors and MSLs
  • Be a point of contact for Global Medical Affairs teams and align UK strategy with Global plans
  • Build and maintain relationships with KOLs
  • Collaborate with Brand Team to develop brand plan strategy
  • Act as an internal scientific expert for Medical Affairs related activities
  • Review and approve materials in line with the ABPI Code of Practice
  • Provide specialist scientific internal training to head office and field based teams
  • Maintain knowledge of all therapy areas within he business and support the wider medical function

Candidate Requirements:

  • GMC registered Physician or GPhC registered Pharmacist required
  • Must have office based Medical Affairs experience in the UK
  • ABPI Final Signatory status
  • Prior line management not required but would be beneficial (role is equally appropriate for first time line managers)
  • Therapy area experience not required but a background in Rare Disease, Paediatrics, Metabolics, or Immunology would be beneficial
  • Leadership skills and strategic thinker
  • Cross functional project experience
  • Confident presenter and strong communication skills
